Methodology

Where our data comes from, how fresh it is, and what its limits are.

This page explains where Itembuild data comes from and how we check the results. The numbers and dates here are read straight from the data the site uses. So they change when the data updates.

Data sources

  • Hero, skill, and counter data come from the official Mobile Legends website. We check it automatically every day.
  • Latest patch we have read: 2.2.16, released September 16, 2026. Read the official patch notes
  • Item changes from the official patch notes are included up to September 16, 2026.
  • The tier list uses official ranked stats from the last 7 days. Last updated October 31, 2026.

Itembuild is a fan-made site. We are not affiliated with Moonton.

How recommendations are made

Pick, ban, and build suggestions come from our engine. It looks at your hero, your lane, the enemy heroes, and the items enemies have already bought.

We explain what the engine considers. We do not publish its weights or detailed rules.

How we check the results

Every data or engine change must pass automated tests before it goes live. If a test fails, the change does not go live.

We also test build purchase order across thousands of hero, lane, and role combinations.

If a build feels wrong, send it with the "Give feedback" button on the Draft page. Some of the fixes below started from player feedback.

Limits

  • Recommendations are estimates. The engine does not know your rank, play style, or gold at that moment.
  • Base item data comes from an older dataset with an unknown date. We correct it with the official patch notes.
  • No item price has been checked directly in the in-game shop yet. 89 of 152 items use estimated prices from a third-party source.
  • The tier list uses stats from all ranked players, not tournament matches.
  • A new patch can change heroes and items. There is a delay before our data catches up.

Notable engine changes

  • Physical Attack from stacking passives, such as War Axe, is now counted.
  • Defense items for tanks are now rated by how much defense they actually give.
  • Enemy items you mark and fed enemies now shift the build based on evidence. A single mark no longer swaps an item outright.
  • Counter items now look at the enemy damage type, physical or magic. This change started from player feedback.
  • Pick and ban suggestions now also use the daily tier list.
  • Battle spell suggestions now look at the enemy heroes in the draft.
